Sderot, Israel. Sderot is once again being plummeted by Kassam fired by Hamas terrorists. Anxiety levels are high and fear is even higher. Already affected by 12 years and thousands of Kassams rockets, Sderot has been left with a 25% unemployment rate.
Due to this current escalation shops are close and one factory has been lost to a direct hit by a Kassam. The notion that we suffer from PTSS (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome) is false. We suffer from ATSS (accumulative traumatic Stress Syndrome) because this trauma has been ongoing for the past 12 years.
Hope For Sderot was established in 2008 just before “Cast Lead” to help those who had been injured by the previous seven years of Kassam rocket attacks from terrorists in Gaza. Today Hope for Sderot has 480 families we help each month with food and other vital services.
We in addition to monthly food, we supply Food for Shabbat for families who otherwise would go without, sandwiches for children that come to school hungry, a brunch meal every other week for ENOSH an adult outpatient therapy that helps teach skills and responsibilities to challenged adults.
As funds are available we also provide diapers for single mother and adult incontinence supplies for elders. Other items we help with includes school supplies, medical bill, utility bills, Rosh Chodesh parties for the high school, clothing, blankets in the winter and fans in the summer just to name a few.
Our first priority is providing food for our 480 families. Unfortunately this week of all weeks as the IDF begins there Operation “Protective Edge” we are closed because we were not able to purchase food for this week due to the lack of funds. It takes $10,000 a month to feed our 480 families.
We need your help. Would you consider sending us a gift; would you consider coming along side with us as we serve here in Sderot helping our brothers and sisters, if so click here.
Hope For Sderot is a humanitarian aid organization recognized by the IRS as a 501c3. For more information you can visit us at www.hopeforsderot.com
