Memphis, TENNESSEE – FEB 23, 2015 – Inspired by the arduous and often discounted and misunderstood role of family caregivers, National Urban Fellow Kathy O. Lofton has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the production of short film documenting the full-time lives of the Family Caregiver, an aspect of healthcare she believes warrants more attention. The film is part of a greater vision to create outlets to facilitate positive outcomes, especially after the success of revision and healthcare reform.
Lofton, a Family CareGiver herself, is making this movie and will use storytelling to educate and inform society at large the idea that ‘Caregivers are home’, while also creating more awareness through implementing social, systemic, and at the core, eventually legislative changes to aid home caregivers. She is hoping to use the film as a tool for church or healthcare ministries, and promote it as a workshop aid for rehabilitation centers, non-profits or outreach organizations, even hospitals and healthcare facilities.
This film is the basis for the bigger launch of a formal advocacy campaign and small business.
Angel investors helping fund the I Am A Care Giver campaign to the next level will be eligible for perks such as Twitter shout outs and thank yous, personalized letter from Kathy, DVD copies, and DVD donor credit in the movie.
The I Am A Care Giver team understands not everyone may be able to give money to help the I Am A Care Giver campaign, so they ask that those who cannot give monetarily help by spreading the word about the I Am A Care Giver project online through social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr or record a video challenge for Vine, Facebook or Instagram to invite friends to give to or share this Kickstarter fundraiser. Include #IAmACareGiver in all posts.
