The original Red Power Ranger (Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers 1993 – 1997) actor Austin St. John will star in a new feature film, Survival’s End – written and directed by Daniel E. Springen, who has directed feature film projects for a decade including The Reel (1997), Deadly Species (2002), and The Vault (2005).
Survival’s End tells the story of an uncontrollable strain of the Ebola virus causing an epidemic that threatens the world’s very survival. It accelerates the doomsday “virus” prophecy to modern times and presents a dark vision of one of our world’s worst nightmares: a rogue, self-replicating virus that cannot be controlled. The story is brought home with recent news obsessions centering in Africa and now an epidemic of this scale and magnitude is not only within the realm of possibility, but could be happening right now.
Survival’s End takes an interesting look at true survival protocol that could be used if a disaster of this size and scope ever truly comes to your neighborhood. The director, Daniel E. Springen has used film in the past to educate as well as entertain; No Way Out was a fine example of this method released in 2014 to pronominal reviews and viewer response.
Funds raised on Indiegogo will comprise 30% of production costs to make the film Survival’s End. As with many Indiegogo campaigns, donors will be offered unique gifts at different levels of participation, rewards range from limited edition t-shirts to an actual “survival” camping trip with Austin St. John himself.
Producer Chap Chappell of Chappell Entertainment commented “We have produced movies and events like Michael Winslow Live, Coming Attractions starring Dennis Rodman and Latinos Locos starring Alex Ortiz, but working with Austin and this great script is a real opportunity for all of us.” Chappell has worked with actors Bubba Smith, Pat Morita, and James Hong.
“The Indiegogo campaign for Survival’s End is a unique chance to participate in a real film production and walk away with a piece of history,” Chap concluded.
Austin St. John who played Jason Lee Scott, the Leader of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers from 1993 – 1997, has most recently spent time as an medic attached to various US military operations in Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq. St. John commented, “Survival’s End is a fun film with a great plot and it also allows me to expose the public to real survival methods they may need in any disaster.”
