A new collection offered by the Perth Mint for 2013-dated silver coins were released in a new proof format. The coins were given three iconic Australian animals for their backside and Queen Elizabeth II with the words Australia, 1 Dollar, and her name engraved.
The three animals were the Kangaroo, Koala, and Kookaburra, and each had the year and the 1oz and 999 Silver engraved below the animals.
The Kangaroo design featured both an adult kangaroo on a wheat field in a rural setting. The released date was July 2013 with an estimated 20,000 pieces released from the mintage.
The Koala coin has an adult koala sitting at the fork of a eucalyptus tree (of course) and surrounded by gum leaves. The coin was initially released one month after the Kangaroo in August, and was given a 10,000 mintage maximum.
Finally, the Kookaburra shows two kookaburras sitting within above a bush flower collection. The coin had been released previous to the former two, in May. It also held a 10,000 piece maximum.
The coins were minted on concave surfaces and were given optimum flow of metal. The display and design were also made to be higher quality thanks to the flow.
Each of the coins were one troy ounce, as specified on their backside. Each was 99.9% pure silver to a proof quality. The max diameter of each coin was 32.60 mm and each holds a thickness of 6.00 mm. All coins were packaged together within a display case for shipping and each was numbered certified for authenticity.
The 2013 Australian High Relief Silver Proof Three Coin Collection has been limited to a mere 1,000 sets.
