Chicago, IL – April 23, 2015 – SolarSim is an innovative tool that aims to increase solar energy awareness and show the potential solar energy has. Creator, Kain Osterholt, was appalled to know that solar energy has not become a mainstream energy source. This prompted him to make the app. Now to release this to the world he has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $2,500 by May 14th, 2015.
According to the US Energy Information Administration, for the year 2013 less than 1 percent of the energy consumed in the US came from solar power. However, with the advanced technology solar power should become the primary energy source. It is long lasting and is not harmful to the environment. Back then this alternative was deemed too expensive. Now it is more affordable than ever and cost-effective in the long run.
The SolarSim aims to increase awareness of how feasible using solar energy can be in today’s world. People who use it will make a contribution to the movement for a more eco-friendly energy source. The way it works is the users will create an account for the app. It will calculate the person’s location, orientation of the earth relative to the Sun. Then, SolarSim determines the potential solar energy production. The user can then track power production based on the data collected to prove that solar energy is possible to be used anywhere and how affordable it can be.
This will encourage others and the government to consider pushing the initiative for clean energy solutions. All funding raised from the campaign will be used to increase the user base and scale the server resources. As an added bonus, the source code will be released to the public to allow anyone to create their own solar simulator. There will also be a private beta test. Anyone who gives more than $5 can be part of this. Individual’s part of the testing can provide feedback to help make the app better. This will begin between May through June.
To make a contribution, please visit the Kickstarter campaign or click here. Backers can choose from many attractive rewards as a “thank you” for the support.
This is an “all-or-nothing” deal, which means if the campaign does not reach the goal then the SolarSim project cannot move forward. Please help this movement for a sustainable energy source even more by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The more awareness brought to SolarSim the faster they can reach the goal.
