Learning new languages has become more accessible thanks to the company Japplis that has now made its amazing software JLearnIt available for free

Make the most out of your quarantine routine and start mastering a new language today!

Utrecht, Netherlands – Japplis is a company created in 2008 by Anthony Goubard in Amsterdam, Netherlands. JLearnIt is an interactive and dynamic multilingual dictionary that helps its users to become proficient in foreign languages and learn vocabulary. The software is very easy-to-use and much useful for anyone seeking to learn a new language regardless of their technological skills. Previously priced at 15 Euros, the company owners have now rendered it free software that can be easily downloaded on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

The software is mainly categorized into three parts namely the Dictionary part, Question part, and, Translate part. The languages included are English, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Italian, Hebrew, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Hungarian, Russian, Latin and Czech. Users can opt for whatever language they are interested to pursue and hide other languages. Plus, they can also sort words according to different categories, to make the learning process more convenient. Currently, the application houses more than 35,000 words.

The Question part is where most of the learning takes place. The users can easily choose the level of words they want to be tested on (Level (1) implying the most frequently used words and Level (10) implying very rarely used words). The application allows users to save their scores. Users can have one score file let us assume for, “French to English” and another one for “English to French”. The application is updated dynamically in a sense that, it records which words you have mastered and would not show them up in quizzes again.

JLearnIt can also be used to translate texts from and to any language word-by-word. The software can also translate a list of words. The most amazing feature of this application is that it enables its users to enter letters that are not on your keyboard (See View -> Accent Window).

Version 6.0 of JLearnIt contains further improvements. The Windows installation does not require Java to be installed on your computer anymore. The website has been redesigned for easier navigation and better readability. The founder loves to make his creations as accessible as possible to the general audience and this is the reason why JLearnIt is so intuitive. In the words of the designer: “Even though many more improvements are planned for this software, with the increased number of children learning at home and unemployed people who may want to use this time to learn, releasing it now for free will certainly benefit them. You can easily type the letters with an accent even if you do not have a special keyboard. All in all, I wish to share this software with as many people as possible.”
