On September 19, the 12th Straits Forum opened in Xiamen. The theme of this forum continues to be “expanding non-governmental exchanges and deepening integrative development”, which has received extensive attention from all walks of life on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
During the Forum, there are 34 events in the four major sections of the forum conference and youth exchange, grass-roots exchange, cultural exchange and economic exchange, plus 12 activities held in the same period by relevant districts and cities, totaling 46 activities. In the Forum, various activities will be held in an innovative way, featuring “online + offline” combination and breaking through the influence of time and space constraints brought about by the COVID-19.
The topics are carefully selected for the Forum. While continuously paying attention to serving youth groups, jointly promoting Chinese culture, boosting cross-strait economic cooperation, and encourage full and comprehensive communication, it has also closely followed the current anti-epidemic hotspot, adding new topics such as health and epidemic prevention, and orderly resumption of work and production. Touching story of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait who are fighting the “epidemic” hand in hand, helping each other and overcoming difficulties together are also included.
As main venue of the Taiwan Strait Forum, Xiamen is a deputy provincial city in Fujian Province, a city under separate state planning and a special economic zone in China. It also serves as an important platform and window for cross-strait relations and exchanges. Xiamen is not only a city of high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship, but also a city of beautiful ecological gardens. It has hosted many world-class events and competitions, such as the 9th BRICS Summit.
With the success of the forum, Xiamen, a beautiful coastal city, will also receive more and more attention from the world.
