“It has been very interesting to monitor the many conversations taking place regarding the choosing of a new Pope,” said Teresa Tomeo, award-winning Catholic reporter and syndicated talk show host. “The Cardinals have taken the time needed to pray and discuss key issues facing the Church. They are well prepared as they get ready to undertake this great responsibility,” she said. In the end, however, Tomeo noted that it is all about the intercession of the Holy Spirit.
Tomeo has reported from the Vatican, was a featured correspondent for Blessed John Paul the Second’s beatification, and was chosen as one of 250 delegates from around the world to attend the Vatican Women’s Congress held in 2008. Tomeo will return to Rome next month to cover the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture conference.
According to Tomeo, since Benedict’s retirement on February 28th, “The cardinals concur that the new leader of the Catholic Church will need to be a strong communicator with the ability to reach out through every form of media to evangelize. The new Pope will also need to travel and carry on the worldwide outreach as both John Paul the Second and Benedict XVI did so well,” Tomeo said.
Tomeo is available to comment on topics relating to the conclave including:
· An inside look at the Conclave.
· The history of the election process.
· How the new pope will be announced to the world?
