Australian wholesale organic food business, First Ray, are delighted to celebrate their recent attainment of B Corp Certification status.
Certified B Corporations are those businesses recognised for their ability to balance profit and purpose, and First Ray’s achievement of this status places them on a celebrated list of organisations such as Patagonia and Kathmandu.
Co-founder of First Ray, Sandy Abram, said she is proud her business is being recognised for its dedication to the environment as well as the wider community.
“We’ve always said at First Ray that we have a deep responsibility to respect the environment and to make a difference in society,” Ms Abram said.
“We’ve woven that belief into the fabric of our business from the very beginning and now, 15 years later, we’re being recognised for our commitment to helping people live a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle.
“To achieve B Corp status, we had to meet the highest standards for transparency and advocacy as well as proving how we were contributing to making a social and environmental impact,” she said.
“We had to outline what we’d given back, and I have to say, we were proud of First Ray’s list of achievements.
First Ray Achieves B Corp Certification Status
First Ray’s other co-founder, Belinda Lawlor, said that First Ray has committed to making a difference from choice in suppliers right through to their wonderful employees.
“For a start, we only supply organic goods free from pesticides, chemicals, parabens, and anything else that’s unnatural,” Ms Lawlor said.
“Then we look at our supply network; we try to reduce inequality and provide excellent working and living conditions for everyone within our supply chain.
“We also only work with suppliers who are just as committed as we are to seeing the environment preserved and taken care of, so all our products are environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and sustainably made,” Ms Lawlor said.
“Finally, our employees at First Ray truly embody everything for which we morally stand.
“They understand our commitment to the environment, to the community, and to bettering the living conditions of everyone in our supply network, and our team represent and reflect that commitment every single day in their work,” Ms Lawlor said.
“We couldn’t be happier with the business we’ve built today, and we’re filled with such pride to see First Ray recognised with B Corp Certification status.”
