Woodbridge, Ontario – Kisko announces four core initiatives that prioritize environmentally sustainable business practices. The family-run business has been in operation for more than 40 years. From its origins in Jamaica, the company has been committed to strong family values, with a foundation on integrity, respect, and ethical leadership. These values have guided their contributions to numerous communities, including building schools and supporting food banks, summer camps, and non-profit organizations.
In addition to these core values, Kisko has an energized focus on maintaining procedures that prioritize eco-friendly efforts.
Summary of Environmentally Sustainable Initiatives:
At every level of the company, environmental sustainability has become a primary concern for all Kisko employees.
Four Core Sustainability Initiatives:
- All corrugate packaging (i.e., cardboard) is produced from 100% recycled material, with 95% of Kisko’s current waste being recycled.
- Every truck is shipped with maximum capacity, and loads are consolidated as much as possible to reduce carbon emissions during transportation.
- They are promoting greater reuse of energy. Kisko’s facilities are designed to capture excess heat from the boilers and compressors, which aids in heating. Additionally, cold air is drawn in from outside during the winter months and used to cool products on the production line through a cooling tunnel.
- The majority of the packaging supply chain is local. By reducing the amount of distance that supplies are required to travel for production, Kisko can create a minimal carbon footprint that is significantly more sustainable for the environment.
Initially founded in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies in 1968, Kisko products were eventually established in Agincourt, Ontario, in 1977. Kisko is a proud family-run business with over 40 years of focus on producing the best quality freeze pops fruit snacks in the market. They have an ongoing commitment to product quality and provide 100% customer satisfaction related to their products and service.
