With the number of academic labs being twice as high as biotech SMEs, it has been challenging for companies to find the lab that perfectly fits their search fast because of the sheer abundance and difficult-to-find right websites. A-LabInsider has figured out a way to make it easier for both sides to connect and find research collaborators either on a non-profit or for-profit basis.
Based in Berlin, Germany, and founded in 2018, A-LabInsider has created an application with all academic life science labs in Europe together with the intelligence to filter through them to make it easier for small and medium biotech companies to find and work with academic labs. The concept was to create a central place for biotech SMEs to find academic labs through the content of university websites and/or the literature they have produced, to keep an eye on the labs that are currently present on the market, and gain lead generation and market intelligence to get an overview and benchmark performance of each lab to figure out which lab is the best fit.
A-LabInsider equips companies with the latest data, what to do with it, and how to apply it. By doing those things, the app is the “market monitor” on academic life science labs and will always have new information popping up.
The application is beneficial for both parties because, at the moment, academic labs represent 20-25% of revenue for biotech companies and have an average budget similar to a startup but do not get the innovation they desire because they are hard to find. By creating this app, A-LabInsider has solved at the hefty financial problem by allowing businesses to keep an eye out and allow easy boosts of business for both labs and companies.
At the moment, A-LabInsider has put multiple biotech companies on a license and plans to onboard more companies. Through further research of the biotech SME market, they have proof that there is a market for this platform, and people are willing to spend an appropriate amount of money to get the results they want.
