Alternative footwear brand Coddies launch cozy Taco Slippers just in time for a winter in lockdown.
Coddies.com, makers of unique, fun footwear, have this week announced the launch of their latest creation: Taco Slippers. Unlike their other alternative shoes, Taco Slippers are for indoor use only and were made with cozy lockdown nights in mind.
Notorious for their weird and wonderful footwear, in particular the patented Fish Flip Flops, seen this Halloween on the feet of Heidi Klum, the team at Coddies are never short on inspiration for their latest designs. This year, prompted by the consequences of the pandemic, the brand has decided to expand into shoes that can be worn exclusively inside the house. The new taco-shaped slippers are big, plush and just right for snuggling up on cold winter evenings.
When asked about where the idea came from, Coddies CEO and founder Jack Bennet said: “We wanted to make sure people still have the joy of wearing Coddies even when they can’t go outside. We were talking about tacos and realized they’re the perfect structure for a slipper: they envelop the foot and make for a nice, squishy experience.” With those winter lockdown nights looking more than a little bleak, this new design is sure to bring a smile to the face of taco lovers all over the world.
“The whole Coddies range is designed for both indoor and outdoor wear and normally we focus on summer shoes that you can slip into easily,” continued Jack, “But the time was right to make something really warm and cozy for winter.” In light of the huge success of Taco Slipper’s predecessors Bread Loafers, another Coddies shoe with a plusher sole, it’s not unlikely that many people will be unwrapping a pair of Taco Slippers on Christmas morning.
Coddies was started in early 2018 by Jack Bennet with the idea of shaking up the footwear industry. Bored by the constant repetition of summer shoe styles, he decided to create footwear that was totally unique and unquestionably fun. Designed with comfort, originality and versatility in mind, Coddies shoes are worn and enjoyed by tens of thousands of customers all over the world. At Coddies, sustainability is an issue close to the heart and as such they donate a percentage of profits to marine conservation charities that protect fish – naturally, cod included!
