Dallas, TX, USA – December 11, 2020 – Penny Appeal USA was awarded a $50,000 Love Takes Action Award from the New York Life Foundation based on the extraordinary community service of Ram Mehta, founder of EveryoneEatz, during COVID-19. The grant will support the Penny Appeal USA mission to provide food distribution, health services, and, most importantly, hope and support to anyone in need both domestically and internationally since 2016.
As part of the Love Takes Action Award program, Mr. Mehta was one of thirty-five community members from across the nation honored for their exceptional community service in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As an honoree, Mr. Mehta had the opportunity to select a local nonprofit to receive a $50,000 general support grant from the New York Life Foundation.
“I am grateful that my work was recognized by the New York Life Foundation and that I was able to pay it forward and recognize Penny Appeal USA for the lives they are transforming in our local community,” said Mr. Mehta. “I chose Penny Appeal USA to receive the funding because they provide hope and support to anyone in need.”
“We nominated Ram Mehta because he and his organization EveryoneEatz selflessly gave back to the community during the pandemic and, as a result, local members of their community were able to benefit from his need to take action and help others,” said Aziz Kanjiani, a New York Life Agent with the company’s Dallas Fort Worth General Office who nominated Mr. Mehta. “He and his team stepped up when their community needed them the most.”
