Asheville, NC – December 22, 2020 – Ending 2020 on a significant upswing after facing the challenges of a year impacted by many factors including COVID-19, international residential builder Deltec Homes looks to the future with plans to expand. Today they announced that the company has seen their 2020 orders increase 47% over last year.
Setting new records, Deltec currently has homes being delivered to locations nationwide and in the Caribbean, including the Carolinas, California, Colorado, Florida, the US Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.
Deltec, renowned for their homes around the world and founded in 1968, has built custom homes to exist in harmony with the natural world. Using a hybrid prefab approach, this luxury home builder designs and engineers the home and then constructs the building shell with panelized efficiency at its factory site. It is then shipped for assembly with all interior and finish work done by a local custom home builder – all supported with Deltec’s expertise. This gives the homeowner the benefits of a prefab home with the customization and flexibility of a stick-built custom home.
Started and still owned by the Kinser family in Asheville, NC, the company anticipates that the increase in this year’s orders will lead to a strong construction pipeline for the years ahead. They expect to increase the number of local custom builder partners who finish their panelized homes onsite, as well as hiring more than a dozen positions, including field staff, manufacturing, and management positions, primarily based in their company headquarters of Asheville, North Carolina.
Spurring Deltec on their upward trajectory is Scott Cocking, the newly appointed Director of Marketing, who joined the company from New York earlier this year. Under Cocking’s leadership and extensive experience in brand marketing, he has implemented a number of strategic national marketing initiatives to further position them as a leading national home builder while growing interest among its core audiences. He joined the company to further expand the tremendous opportunity the company offers in leading the industry in its panelized approach to building resilient, high performance homes. “I am excited to join the Deltec family and contribute to their resurgent growth. With the rise in consumer interest in our homes, custom home builders will become even more critical to our success in 2021.”
According to Steve Linton, president, Deltec Homes, “2020 has been a period of unique uncertainty and despite many challenges, we experienced strong consumer interest in our unique custom-built homes with the year ending at a historically high number of homes ordered.”
Linton also commented that COVID-19 has fundamentally shifted people’s perception of their homes. As a result, more Americans are spending more time at home, connecting with their spaces more, and re-evaluating what they want in a home. Deltec has also seen a tremendous surge in homeowners wanting custom-built homes that connect to nature while being protected from the increasingly extreme weather as our climate changes. “While our homeowners have valued these amenities for many decades, we have seen more people more interested in our homes as a result of the Pandemic. We have been lucky that with the backing of the Kinser family, we were in a position to take advantage of this trend. This year we pivoted like so many other construction businesses — became more flexible, prioritized our employee safety, and interacted with our customers in more engaging ways. We are very excited to end the year on such a strong financial upswing.”
