Orlando, Florida, USA – January 7, 2021 – Esme Maldonado (aka Ezmay) had an ambitious dream to be the next “Selina.” But she set aside that dream to raise her three children, making sure their lives were full of loving care and lots of happiness. When it came time to resume her singing career, some 15 years later, Esme contacted long time friends, record label owner Bob Rivera and DJ Paul Oakenfold, whom she affectionately called Pops and Uncle Paul, respectively.
Esme, who was inspired by helping other aspiring performers, insisted on donating 100% of the proceeds from her debut single to Future Dreamers & Achievers, a non-profit organization built to help less privileged students striving to pursue their dreams.
So with steeled determination, Esme worked hard with “Pops” and “Uncle Paul,” along with fantastic writers, producers & friends, to compose an inspirational song about fighting life’s battles entitled “Rise Up.” The song was construed into several remix versions making it a Maxi- single, with a release date set for Friday, January 8, 2021. For many years, DJ Paul Oakenfold believed that Esme would soon hit the stage and realize her dream of becoming the next “Selina,” and now the journey was underway 15 years later!
Then tragedy struck. Esme Maldonado passed away on the evening of November 18, 2020.
Wanting to see their daughter’s dream fulfilled, the family gave their permission to release Esme’s debut single record.
In honor of Esme’s “never give up” “work hard attitude,” a work ethic that’s a testament to her motivational desire to encourage others to achieve their dreams, Bob Rivera has announced “The Esme Maldonado Scholarship.”
