Feb 9, 2021 – Wilmette, Il. – Travelsports.com announced today that it has acquired the domain name Arenamaps.com, and intends to integrate the website address into the company’s current ice rink listing and ice rink rental offerings.
The Arenamaps.com domain name, established in 1996, represents one of the earliest and best known ice rink location websites and was purchased for an undisclosed amount.
Plans for integration of Arenamaps.com into Travelsports.com include the redirecting of thousands of links from Arenamaps.com to both the main Travelsports.com home page as well as the over 5,100 North America individual ice rink pages listed on Travelsports.com.
“The addition of Arenamaps.com to Travelsports.com complements our mission of providing rink location information to clubs, coaches, directors, parents and players” said Chris Pauly, Founder and CEO of Travelsports.com. “Arenamaps.com fits perfectly in allowing Travelsports.com to expand our reach to thousands of youth sports and travel websites.”
“The addition of Arenamaps.com allows us to increase the visibility of our best in class ice rink location and amenity information and grow our rink rental product offering.” said John Keenan, COO of Travelsports.com. “By creating a frictionless marketplace where buyers can easily filter and purchase ice, Travelsports.com allows rinks and clubs to generate thousands of dollars in revenue, which can be a lifeline for many ice rinks that operate on razor thin margins and non-profit hockey and figure skating clubs, who might need to scale back programming for local communities otherwise.”
Since its launch, Travelsports.com has become an invaluable tool for hockey directors, managers, coaches and parents to search and find information related to hockey rinks, tournaments, camps/clinics, coaches, shops and more. In addition, Travelsports.com has begun piloting, in the Chicagoland area, the creation of a marketplace which allows ice rinks and hockey and figure skating clubs to sell unused ice inventory to buyers including hockey clubs, coaches, tournament operators and parents.
Travelsports.com has built the first comprehensive youth sports platform, starting with youth hockey. Travlesports.com’s unique and scalable youth sports platform targets the hockey market with multiple product offerings including: Ice rink listing information for over 5,100 North America rinks; Ice hockey tournament listing information for over 2,500 tournaments; Ice hockey camps and clinics listing information for over 1,000 camps and clinics and a marketplace for ice rink rentals.
