Looking to the future of his career, David Dodge hopes to continue educating others about the real estate industry, while also taking his own career to new heights. With over 17 years of experience, David is passionate about helping other entrepreneurs achieve success in the industry that provided his own. His goal is to take his rental portfolio to over 150 properties in the next few years, providing educational resources along the way.
To that end, his podcast, “Discount Property Investor”, teaches people all the ins and outs of wholesaling real estate, along with tips and tricks for marketing, landlording, and rehabbing properties. He has also co-authored three books with his business partner Mike Slane. His goal? Creating value. He explains, “For most people, the biggest challenge is capital. However, I believe that capital follows value. Most people are not creating enough value with their businesses and that’s why they are always seeking more capital.”
In every resource he has created, David makes sure to include the good, bad, and the ugly of real estate wholesaling. “It’s not always going to go smooth,” he notes. “You’re not going to have fun all the time. Some days are really going to suck. You are going to have to make tough decisions. You might have to fire employees that are not aligned with your goals. You might want to cry at some point. It will be hard!”
David continues, “But, the rewards of being your own boss and having your own business are better than any rewards that another boss or job can provide to you.”
Referencing his own career struggles, David wants aspiring entrepreneurs to understand the challenges they might encounter in the industry. However, he credits his success to having a positive mindset throughout his career. Today, he owns over 50 rentals. He and his team at “House Sold Easy” average from eight to ten wholesales per month, adding to over 500 houses wholesaled since his career began.
Most recently, David and his partner Mike have created a free resource on wholesaling real estate in order to help others learn how simple and effective the business truly is. David also plans to continue to share his journey on social media. Follow along at @davidalandodge
