Valerie Low has had a rather normal life, graduating from National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, and setting up her own tuition centre, aspiring to be a leading entrepreneur in the education industry.
It was not before the summer of 2017 when Ms Low learned the importance of financial and insurance planning the hard way. One of her closest friends was diagnosed with colon cancer and had no insurance to cover her exorbitant hospital bills. Watching her friend and her family suffer tremendously, Ms Low has since vowed to help people to be adequately protected in case of unforeseen circumstances. She also staunchly believes in branching out her support and attention to the less-financially comfortable households, making sure to only advise them on the most affordable and transparent financial instruments.
Ms Low believes that the most important investment is to invest in the people she cares for.
As a certified financial planner in one of Singapore’s leading financial industries, Ms Low top’s priority has always been to help her clients maximise their protection and to ensure they do not overpay for unnecessary policies – that comes with putting her clients and their needs first.
Ms Low has only been in the industry for 3years. But her mindset of caring for others has already led her to several achievements.
She has attained gold award for top number of lives protected in May, June, August, and September 2020 – an unprecedented feat by any financial planner in her team. She has also achieved Gold Award in Top Sales for June 2020, and also a Silver in September. Her total protection amounts to $2.5 million – a whooping sum.
Through careful analysis and a systematic approach, she has made sure that her clients are well-protected and that their portfolios are managed wisely.
This is what one of her clients, Lee Jia Ning (25, Marketing Executive) has to say about her. “Valerie was different from the other Financial Planners that I have met. While others were simply trying to sell their products to me, I could tell Valerie was genuine and really caring in her approach to my finances. She had my interests and financial stability as her top priority, and only advised me on top-notch financial instruments that were tailor-suited to my financial situation, which she meticulously deduced after spending countless hours of analysing and scrutinising my portfolio. Through her, me and my family are well protected and were able to overcome numerous obstacles, all while not having to spend any extra money on overpriced premiums. I owe much gratitude to Valerie’s shrewd financial planning and genuine approach!”
This is what another one of her clients, Tay Meng Hui, 51, has to say about her. “Trustworthiness and reliability are always the key attributes I find in a financial planner. Valerie has it all, she is also an attentive and likeable person. My whole family feels at ease with her and enjoys time with her both as a friend and financial advisor. I have no doubt to hand over my family especially my children’s financial plan to her to take charge as I trust that she will do her utmost to help my children in their future financial planning and most important to be there with them in time of need. Thank you Valerie for your kind, diligent and cheerful heart. The cheerfulness and positive attitude in you is always something I want my children to learn and look up to you.”
Ms Low says, “being the conduit between the client and the financial plan, I strongly believe in providing professional and holistic financial planning from cradle to grave.”
Her portfolio management strategy is to not only carry out an in depth analysis of the situation, but to also understand the potential drawbacks.
Ms Low currently manages a 6-figure investment portfolio and has impacted the lives of hundreds of people from all walks of life.
But her journey is just beginning.
She plans to explore a wider spectrum of financial planning. She has already started working with strategic partners to extend her services further to will writing and trust. Ms Low believes that should the need arise, having a will and trust set up with liquidity provided by life insurance coverage would help to accelerate the claim to address any potential financial concerns.
She vows to ensure that the clients’ needs are well-addressed, so that the trustee would undertake the distribution of the remaining assets according to their wishes at the appropriate time.
Moving forward, Ms Low is looking to revolutionise the financial advisory industry in Singapore by protecting many more lives in the future and advising clients on the best financial instruments tailor-suited for their financial situation and desired outcome.
