Chimcare started in Portland, Oregon, in 1989 as a family-based business and has grown from one chimney sweep to a crew of licensed technicians offering home solutions from fireplace inspection, cleaning, installation, and other related services.
Because of recent difficult times, Chimcare CEO Jesse Peralta set out to come up with a new idea to help the community and keep his business going during the pandemic.
“When a customer writes us a review online, we donate to a charity of their choice. We have 3 organizations that we work with and donate to. Portland Rescue Mission, Hear the Cry and Doernbechers Children Hospital”, says Jesse Peralta.
Portland Rescue Mission: gives hope and restores life to men, women, and children struggling with hunger, homelessness, and addiction.
Hear the Cry: works locally and globally with various community development projects in areas such as construction, education, newborn health and sustainable farming.
Doernbechers Children Hospital: is an academic teaching children’s hospital associated with Oregon Health & Science University and provides full-spectrum pediatric care.
“By rewarding customers with a donation on their behalf, it is a win for everyone. The charity gets additional resources to carry out their important local missions, we get more reviews that help other potential customers learn about Chimcare, and our happy customer gets to feel good about helping the community. It’s a win-win-win”, says Jesse.
Powerful things can happen when people care about one another and the community. Jesse challenges other businesses to find ways to give back to the local communities they serve. “We’re all in this together, and we need to help out.”
