West Palm Beach, FL – March 12, 2021 – The opening event for the Formula Americas Super GP Championship has been rescheduled for the 4th of July weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The change was made to address Covid-19 travel restrictions.
“We have a lot of interest from drivers in Europe and Latin America with current restrictions on travel making it very difficult for them to make it to the events,” stated Formula Americas’ President. “We are hoping with the current ramp up in vaccines, that by July some of those restrictions will have been lifted. Moving our inaugural date back a couple months gives our drivers more time to get their travel plans in order.”
The second event, which was originally scheduled for Lime Rock Park has been changed to the July 24-25 weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway, which is also the site of the Official Pre-season Test Days. All other events remain unchanged.
Formula Americas Super GP is a professional arrive & drive open-wheel Championship with over $300,000 in Prize Money and an all-inclusive full-season cost under $75,000. The Championship consists of fifteen races held over five weekends with the full season televised in eight 1-hour reality-style episodes.
The Championship utilizes the Mygale FB02 race cars well-known as the early training ground for such drivers as Alexander Rossi, Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel just to name a few. Formula Americas cars have been updated with new aerodynamics and electronic paddle shifters.
Formula Americas Super GP is an all-inclusive Championship, where the only thing not included is the driver’s personal safety gear. The Championship takes care of all the rest. All cars in the Championship are prepared and set up identically, so winning depends on talent, not who can spend the most money. This creates close and exciting battles throughout the field.
