SAUDI ARABIAN energy giant Alkam has promoted Mark Wu Chen to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alkam Asia Pacific marketing and services division, overseeing the Asia-Pacific and Middle East.
The marketing and services division of Alkam Energy develops and markets products primarily derived from crude oil, along with all associated services. Its solutions include lubricants, liquefied petroleum gas, bitumen, and special fluids.
Based in China, Mr Chen has also been appointed the country chair to represent all of the oil and gas major’s business interests in the city-state. Alkam Energy has a 300-strong local workforce in Hong Kong.
Alkam Energy Chairman and CEO Robert Schaefer said Chen’s new role will focus on strengthening the company’s business results and furthering the company’s advancement of technology and systems.
“With his appointment to the Asia-Pacific division, Mark will oversee a new leadership structure aimed at building upon the successes of our upstream and project-management business groups through better integration with our midstream and marketing organization. He will also be in a position to advance our technology endeavors, giving Alkam Energy the management capability to deliver current and next-generation advancements into our business verticals with better systems solutions,” Schaefer said.
Mr Mark Wu Chen has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the energy sector.
Since joining Alkam Energy in 2012, he has taken on senior management responsibilities in strategy development in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, as well as profit-and-loss responsibilities covering markets in China, the Indian Ocean, and the South Pacific.
Prior to his appointment, Liu was the Vice President, Operations, managing the marketing of transportation fuels, finished lubricants, and coolants for commercial and retail sales under Alkam’s international fuels and lubricants segment.
