Mr. Dodd who is the Managing Director at Hamilton Wood & Company is honoured to have been selected for the first cohort of Manchester Met’s new ECO-I innovation program.
ECO-I North West is part of the faculty for Business and Law at Manchester Metropolitan University. The ECO-I scheme is a new £14 million Research & Development programme helping businesses to develop new products, services, and innovations.
ECO-I NW is a collaboration between six leading Universities in the North West. The group includes Lancaster University, University of Central Lancashire, University of Cumbria, University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores and Manchester Metropolitan University.
Simon Dodd said “I am delighted to be working with Manchester Metropolitan University to develop an exciting new transportation system. What the fantastic new ECO-I scheme shows is that Manchester has a world-class network to support local innovators in taking their ideas from concept to a tangible product or service.”
He went on to say, “I am not able to go into the specifics about the project at this time but what I can tell you is this, should the concept be proven, then this will fundamentally change the way we all travel between urban and sub-urban areas. The innovation project has national and global appeal and is just one of two cutting-edge inventions my company is working on.”
With the UK’s ambitious target to become ‘net-zero emissions neutral’ by 2030 Simon stated that if proven, this invention would be a large-step forward for the UK in reaching this ambitious goal.
