HONOLULU, HI – June 09, 2021 – Nan Inc owner Patrick Shin attended the second State Veterans Home (SVH) groundbreaking ceremony in Hawaii on Monday, May 31, 2021, at 10 a.m. In addition to him, several distinguished guests, veterans, and community members graced the occasion.
The 120-bed new Hawaiian State Veterans Home (SVH) completion date will be in April 2023. The additional beds of the SVH will reduce the current deficit of beds and offer much-required care to the large number of veterans residing in the state. $44.7 million federal grants and $53.7 million state funds are allotted to finance the facility’s construction.
The facility’s eco-friendly and energy-efficient design ensures the energy utilization is optimized in every aspect, including air conditioning, lighting, shading, insulating, and heating, to minimize the energy cost and carbon footprint. Roof overhangs and sunshades, high caliber glazing, LED lights, occupancy sensors, and the non-potable water recycling plant are few examples of energy-saving strategies proposed to implement. Upon completion, the SVH will be equipped to act as a fully-fledged healthcare center that offers long-term and short-term care to veterans, spouses, and parents with the Gold Star status. Among its services, mental healthcare facilities for the elderly and patients suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s, skilled nursing and intermediate care facilities, rehabilitation therapies, hospice and respite care facilities, and adult day care services can be highlighted.
