Los Angeles, Southern California – Jun 10, 2021 – For Our Roots (F.O.R) Investments is excited to announce that it has closed its first real estate deal acquisition. The Southern California real estate investment fund closed a 100% tenant-occupied four-unit property in Los Angeles for $1.4 million.
F.O.R. Investments was created by a number of professionals who participated in the Real Estate Associates Program (REAP) in 2019 with over 50 years of combined experience and familiarity with the L.A. market. Instructors are generally senior practitioners in their firms and have at least 10 years of experience in management, leasing, development, and related fields. REAPs mission is to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the commercial real estate industry through education, mentorship, and partnerships.
F.O.R. Investments seeks to impact the Los Angeles multifamily real estate market positively whose objectives are deeply rooted in achieving societal change and equality within the communities predominantly occupied by residents of black or Latino descent. “By focusing on developing local communities, we will look to drive down the numbers of the chronically homeless and allow long-term residents to remain in the neighborhoods they know as home.”
They are particularly proud to have purchased the Los Angeles property, while also allowing the current residences to remain. “This is our mission, to own and maintain affordable housing for residences in our community”, said Odest Riley Jr., Managing Partner of F.O. R. Investments.
F.O.R Investments is equipped and prepared to transact profitable investments and get the best returns for its investors in this changing market.
After completion of the fall 2019 class, the majority of the students who participated in the Real Estate Associates Program (REAP) in 2019 decided to take what they had learned a step further and formed F.O.R., an investment fund to acquire real estate. Making an initial contribution to get started, they met regularly to strategize on their investment criteria and to look for properties. They identified a four-unit property on Highland Avenue in Los Angeles, opened escrow, and closed recently. This is the first group of REAP graduates to form an investment fund and actually put to work the lessons and principles they learned during the course.
