On Saturday, people all around the country participated in “Night Without A Bed,” a yearly event that raises awareness and funds for programs that help solve homelessness by encouraging participants to sleep outside, on the floor, on a couch, or anywhere else that isn’t their usual comfortable bed.
It’s a way to share solidarity with people who don’t have a bed to sleep in each night and to bring awareness to homelessness, said Lawrence Heilers, owner of Texan Mattress.
“A good night’s sleep is essential to physical and mental health” Heilers said. “At Texan Mattress our singular focus is to improve the quality of life of our neighbors, friends and family through improved sleep. We accomplish this by offering quality affordable mattresses everyday to our customers and through donations to those in need.”
“The experience of sleeping outside brought about a strong sense of gratitude in our team. We appreciate our community’s support of our small business and we will continue to give back to our community through charity.”
Texan Mattress partners with many local charities including the St. Paul Society, Victory Ministries, and Northwest Assistance Ministries to provide mattresses to those in need. Additional charities are welcome and can submit requests to Texan Mattress via email at lheilers@gmail.com
