Dexter A. Powell, Jr., the author of the book titled “Young King: Take Your Stand,” is giving out 10,000 free copies of his book across Michigan. The 39-year-old author has announced plans to do this as part of his commitment to reach young people and those seemingly in the web of a wrong decision. Decision-making is often the least considered aspect of life, and unfortunately, it is the most important step that determines outcomes, either positive or negative, success or failure. Unfortunately, many persons, especially young people, take decision-making lightly, which constitutes a large percentage of wrong, destructive actions taken.
Dexter’s vision for the free distribution of his book is with a particular interest in currently locked up juvenile offenders. He hopes to reach out to this group of persons before the mass distribution to non-profits, schools, and city streets.
The author has taken the first step towards the nationwide distribution of 1,000,000 copies of “Young King: Take Your Stand.” On May 11, 2021, Dexter presented a check to his Publisher to gather the 10,000 copies to be distributed in Michigan. On July 1, 2021, the order of 10,000 books arrived in Michigan, and within nine days, Dexter signed all 10,000 copies as he prepares for a massive statewide distribution effort.
The author believes life can be better, fulfilling, and less problematic if youths learn the importance of decision-making and why they must never ruin their future for wrong decisions. He wrote the book “Young King: Take Your Stand” in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic on his cell phone. The 100-page book is a journey into Dexter’s redemptive experience during his formative years and how readers can experience the same.
Dexter went from being a 12-year-old juvenile felon, teenage Father, morbidly obese man (504lbs), drug-addicted (Crack, opiates), a suicidal and severely depressed person just so he could establish his voice and mission to the world, which is to give back as a servant-leader to those who need to realize the importance of who they are and what they carry for this and future generations.
