Miami, FL – The school year is not in full swing yet, but a backpack giveaway in South Dade was already lending kids a helping hand this past Saturday.
Over 300 backpacks full of pencils, paper, folders, and other school supplies, all free of charge, were distributed to families residing in the Homestead area. The inaugural backpack giveaway event was hosted by owner/ operator Clint Gulley, II and wife Melissa A. Gulley.
Sometimes, parents and caregivers have to choose between bills and school supplies, and we know that teachers often fund school supply shortages from their own paychecks,” stated Clint Gulley, II and wife Melissa A. Gulley. “The backpack giveaway helps alleviate some of those obstacles and prevents children from starting school at a disadvantage.”
The Gulley Family looks forward to working with many of the Homestead-area schools this year as they continue to host their popular McTeacher ‘s Nights as well as other upcoming McDonald’s hosted events.
It’s such a pleasure to give back to the community with events like these and to see all the smiling faces and happy families. It’s just a great time for everyone, stated Melissa A. Gulley.”
With support of Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kionne McGhee and the South Miami Chapter of Jack and Jill, Inc., the inaugural backpack giveaway was a success.
