Travelers have become familiar with the concept of renting a house for a few days, but recently, the trend of home swapping has started to make the rounds. Spearheading the revival is Guinness World Record holder James Asquith, known for being the youngest man to visit each country in the world. A lover of travel, he created Holiday Swap to provide an accommodation solution for individuals and groups traveling across the country and worldwide.
Holiday Swap is a home exchange platform designed to allow travelers to securely swap and host their homes for only $1 a night. The premise quickly grew popular among users, with over half a million users from 185 countries. Holiday Swap’s functions disallow users from profiting or subletting, giving everyone the chance to save on pricey travel accommodations and to spend more on their flights and tours.
The traveler-friendly platform offers subscription plans that allows them to save and benefit from unlimited swaps, instantly message unmatched users, and bring one guest for free. Holiday Swap allows travelers to worry less about their expenses and the chance to enjoy their vacation trips. Users have the option to either swap homes at the same time, host travelers, or stay as guests. The platform also allows users to make social connections worldwide for future trips, exchange local travel tips, discover new destinations, or even visit old favorite locations.
In 2020, Holiday Swap earned the votes as one of the top 20 companies for social good in Forbes and The Best Home Sharing Platform by LUX Life Magazine. The recognition served as an example of James Asquith and his team’s mission to solve the problem of lessening the burden to travel worldwide.
While the premise already serves to bring a unique experience to users, they also have the option to select their preferred language to chat with everyone they match with. The app is free to download on iOS and Android devices. On September 10, Holiday Swap is set to include new features like improved search rankings and results, intuitive and interactive maps, the option to link multiple spaces to the user’s profile, and a new chat interface. Additionally, the app will update its premium subscription plans that cover a fourteen-day property damage guarantee included in every swap, one free guest in every swap, trip cancellations, and COVID protection included in every swap. Holiday Swap has also doubled down by expanding their global team to include new hires Andy McGinlay, Chief Operating Officer; Lourens Ferreira, Chief Technology Officer; and Jonathan Hawkins, Chief Marketing Officer.
With only a handful of similarly functioning platforms, James Asquith hopes to see Holiday Swap as the top leader in the home swapping space, widening the grip each year. “We want to have over 50 million users by then, in every country we possibly can,” he shared. “We want to disrupt the travel industry and change the way young people travel.”
To celebrate the upcoming launch, the company is hosting a $10,000 giveaway. Stay tuned for details.
