Tucked away on a Welsh industrial estate, you will find an independent coffee shop selling coffee + donuts which attracts people from all over the UK.
Based on Bridgend Industrial Estate, Whocult has been a huge hit, thanks to their mouth-watering posts on Instagram, creating their own donut cult following.
People even queue for up to an hour on some weekends to get their hand on the donuts – and with flavours such as Biscoff, mint Aero and Kinder Bueno, it’s no wonder they are so popular.
The donuts are made fresh every day from their bakery a few doors down from their flagship store. The coffee shop has been open for two years and while owner Scott Magill said that the business didn’t take off instantly, it’s gradually got busier and busier with plans to open more stores in 2022 and offer nation wide delivery by the end of 2021.
When the UK first went into lockdown in March last year, Scott decided to offer a delivery service, often selling out of donuts in under 60 seconds.
The demand was crazy and luckily kept us afloat during the period of having to close the shop during covid.
When he first decided to open, Scott said that people didn’t think it would work.
“This place shouldn’t work, we are surrounded by Starbucks, Greggs and Costa’s, we are in the middle of nowhere so it’s amazing to see the support we get and watch the brand grow organically.
“When I first opened people were saying ‘who the hell is going to come to an industrial estate for a coffee and donut you are in the middle of nowhere, it will never work.
“So to see 50 people queuing outside in the freezing cold for our coffee + donuts is amazing.”
