“Draconium Carbide: Casus Belli by Alan Ray Argente is an epic fantasy novel with plenty of action, dragons, and war to keep you entertained for days. The war between the Blessed Lands of Javyria and the Empire of Ardynia is ready to boil over, and everyone is caught in it. While the dragonslayers are ready to get the job done once and for all, it seems like killing the dragons is not as easy as it seems. The dragons have been blessed, and they have a considerable advantage over humans. What is it that makes them better than humans? Why do humans want to kill the dragons?
“Usually, I’m not particularly eager to read novels written in the first-person narrative, but this very intricate and complex novel is different. I think Alan Ray Argente put a lot of thought into making sure the first-person narrative will strengthen readers’ bond with the protagonists. With the war looming in the story’s background, the first-person narrative sets the tone for the plot and makes it more personal for readers. Both Karriel and Niaraus play a vital role in progressing the story and capturing readers’ attention. They both offer something unique. While Karriel is daring and a go-getter, Niaraus is calculating and an analyst. They know their weaknesses and their strengths and then play to them to make sure they stand out. Dragons are more than just a talking point in this story. They are integral to the development of the characters. The descriptions and imagery are phenomenal. Politics run high in Draconium Carbide: Casus Belli. There are a lot of characters to keep an eye on, but everything gels together really well. It is entertaining and exciting at the same time.”
