East York, Toronto hip-hop artist DojaBoyTan is out with his studio-debut album “The Town EP” & features a royal rumble video for In The Castle, on 6ixBuzz.
DojaBoyTan, better simply known as Doja is a young enthusiastic artist rising in the underground Toronto music scene, and has been making waves in the East of Toronto since his release of the East York anthem titled “The Top ft. 209Crizzy & Fury”.
Following his release of “Gone Away” in January, Doja is back with his debut EP solely produced by “The Town” Members, which holds guest appearances from Toronto artists Jimmy Yitty and Ry21, it brings some new sounds to the Toronto music scene and is a refreshing take on showing love to your Hometown through the eyes of a young artist.
In this EP, DojaBoyTan deviates from lucid-dream-inspired vocals on “The Town Intro”, to more chill vibes like “Wildin'” and “Boy Tan 2”, and even hits a harder note on the highly anticipated “19 in East York” and “Too Many Tabs”. He really doesn’t skip a beat in flowing through the different styles but pertaining his unique, upbeat tones throughout the whole album and the “In The Castle” Music Video is a fun rendition of him being the King of his Town, musically.
The whole EP is centered around Doja’s Hometown; Port Hope and is produced by people he grew up with.
“I was inspired by my environment there to really put my head into music & when I moved to Toronto, I realized I wasn’t really around my roots, or living the life that made my sound super unique in the first place anymore,” Doja had to say.
“When I was working with people I grew up with, it was crazy to see just how easy the connection to work together on something like music was. I grew up with those people and getting in a studio to work with them on a new kind of sound for our home was insane,” he said.
Doja also Partnered with Town Resident & Videographer Markian klufas (@klxfas on Instagram) to create the 6ixbuzz drop & Town-centered video “In The Castle”. It’s a fun nod to growing up in his community the specifically dope way he did, and features tons of energetic & fun shots of the kid just ballin’ around Port Hope and surrounding Ontario rural vistas.
“Working on this video was a high for me, we literally shot a movie all around my Hometown. When we were filming the shots of me out the window of the beemer we had tons of people behind us honking and trying to be in the shot, which was weird because we come from a town where music isn’t really pronounced… We felt like some young kings,” said Doja.
