Woodland Hills, CA, USA – September 27, 2021 – 4 time best selling author, Conni Ponturo, founder of Absolute Pilates Upstairs, has been featured in her local newspaper with her article “Why Your Brain Matters”. Ponturo’s mother had Alzheimer’s, and the disease is very personal to her. Everyday, Ponturo texts her clients daily doses of health, simple workouts, meditation, and inspiration that they can do to stay moving while at home. Staying connected with people and regular exercise can help your brain by releasing feel-good endorphins and other natural brain chemicals that enhance the feeling of well-being.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, it is estimated there are 6.2 million Americans age 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s. There were at least 42,000 more deaths from Alzheimer’s and other dementias in 2020 compared with averages over the previous five years.
“I couldn’t help my mother,” says Ponturo, “this is why I’m committed to helping people with their bodies. Stay connected with people in your life and exercise. These 2 activities will help you align yourself and give you a few more tools to help alleviate anxiety and depression.”
Ponturo recently published of her fourth book ‘Listen: Watch What You Say, Your Body is Listening’. Ponturo is a respected authority in the field of pain-free living, which includes the harmonious connection of mindset, emotions, and body. “Living a pain-free ageless, life is only possible when we understand the power of creating a harmonious connection with our mindset, emotions, and physical body,” says Ponturo.
In her book, ‘Listen’, Ponturo describes how the most important work in our life is listening to our bodies and how they want to move, rest, be valued, and be respected. The tools in ‘Listen’ will help you navigate the ups and downs of everyday life. Video exercises are included to help you execute changes in your body and to help you make the necessary changes in your body now.
Ponturo has been in the health and wellness world for over 21 years. Her mission is to empower people into more movement and a deeper love for their magnificent bodies. As a former dancer, her career ended with the diagnosis of osteoarthritis, and with that, all of her dreams ended. Searching for another way to express herself, she became a massage therapist and an actor, but her love of movement and Pilates really shaped her career.
“Pilates spoke to my soul the way that dance did, and it still does after all these years.”
Her love of movement and her ability to see imbalances in the body makes for a perfect system to reeducate the body. Ponturo’s knowledge of myofascial release techniques that you can do at home is unparalleled. Ponturo’s wish is that her clients are aware of their amazing bodies and how to work to the best of their abilities to allow them to move, feel better, and be even more alive. She is a multi-published author, vitality expert, and speaker.
