What started as a conventional beauty pageant in 2012 has over the years become a groundbreaking and thought-provoking business model for the future of fashion and modelling. Australian Supermodel of the Year is not about finding a supermodel every year, it is about helping every girl out there discover the Supermodel within her.
Australian Supermodel of the Year is an annual beauty pageant-styled competition and learning program open to models from Australia. The program will be available to models from New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Russia and France from the year 2022. The aim of the competition is to help young aspiring talent learn about the advertising, creative, marketing, fashion and modelling industry through coaching & mentoring sessions by industry experts and thought leaders. Registrations for 2022 will open shortly on www.supermodeloftheyear.com/register
“Sisterhood & Sustainability are at the core of everything we do,” says Kalim Kalim, Co-Creator and Vision Director of Australian Supermodel of the Year who is steering this powerful idea into an educational and learning platform that is bound to change the world of modelling especially in the post-pandemic times.
Australian Supermodel of the Year ( ASOTY ) was probably the first modelling competitions to include girls of all sizes, shapes and skin colour, much before diversity and inclusion became buzz words in the industry. More details are available on the official ASOTY website www.supermodeloftheyear.com
The 2021 Season of Australian Supermodel of the Year has been a complete digital experience due to the pandemic and the resulting travel restrictions. The Competition will be back with its Grand Finals and on ground activities scheduled in Bali for Season 2022, hopefully.
The Grand Finale of the Competition includes an international runway where all the finalists showcase designer collections from leading Australian, Indonesian and Indian designers. Kalim Kalim opened the show last year with his label XAX.
ASOTY will be launching a new label called S.H.E. which stands for Sisterhood Enterprise and this label will be completely owned & operated by the Finalists of ASOTY 2021. The label includes a collection of perfumes to be launched during Holidays in December 2021.
Kalim Kalim, Vision Director & CEO, brings over a decade of experience in fashion photography, brand building and business strategy to deliver a world-class modelling course that is set to become a benchmark for the industry. “Responsible & Purposeful brands are looking for Activists and Role Models. And that is exactly what we are focusing on delivering. It is an initiative that we have taken as part of our journey towards a safer and better planet, and we want to support sustainable brands with the right talent and the right communication tools”. The ASOTY modelling agency is currently headquartered out of Melbourne, Australia, with representative offices in Bali and India.
