Lake Elsinore, CA, USA – October 7, 2021 – Joe A. Oakes was excited to present a check in the amount of $1000.00 to The S.W.A.G. (Social Work Action Group) of Southern California. The non-profit agency works in several Inland Empire locations providing services and linkage to substance abuse treatment, behavioral health, and housing stability for the homeless.
During the month of September, Oakes offered a selection of 9 original art pieces for a discounted price to attract more buyers. 50% of sales would then be donated. At the end of the month 4 pieces were sold but the Artist was short of his $1000 goal. The percentage of each sale was raised to about 75% in order to make up the difference.
“Everyone can give back to the community”, said Joe, “they just need to use their own personal strengths to make it happen.” Oakes became acquainted with The S.W.A.G. last year when his own son became homeless. Members of the organization worked hard to get him off of the streets and into a rehab facility.
1 painting was donated to members of the S.W.A.G. Team and there are 4 remaining. The Artist pledges that 50% from the sale of those remaining pieces will go to the nonprofit when sold. He encourages you to visit his website to help out this essential organization. Donations can also be made directly to the non-profit via their website, https://www.theswag.org.
