Contemporary fiction is a popular genre for readers around the globe nowadays. Many writers opt to set their stories in beautiful settings, using famous landmarks and scenic landscapes, or sometimes in dark neighbourhoods with undiscovered secrets from medieval history.
M. A. Francis is a writer with a flair that you can find only in natural storytellers. His novel, Laura’s Last Words, is a compelling read about two stories that run parallel to each other, set in two different locations of England.
Frank Dawson is one of the lead characters, who struggles with memory loss due to, he’s told, a car accident. The problem with recovering his memory is aggravated because his wife, Janet, does not apparently want him to remember the past. As Frank inches towards recovery, and begins to recall memories from before his accident, Janet becomes even more aggressive.
The other lead character, Dee Fenwick, is a student psychologist looking to solve a mystery of her own. Her sister, Laura, has taken her own life, but Dee is convinced that there is more to it. Her quest to find the truth unveils her link to Frank Dawson, and what beholds them both is not what they would expect or imagine in their wildest dreams.
