Audrey Farris is an environmental influencer, and she strives to bring awareness to the importance of protecting our oceans. Our oceans are a key factor for humanity, producing an estimated 50-80% of the world’s oxygen according to scientists. Audrey seeks to educate others about the positive impact of simple tasks such as using plastic-free alternatives, reef-safe sunscreen, and more. Taking action is the first step to making a difference.
The significance of our oceans is undisputed, and we must work together to make a difference in preserving it. Audrey Farris was quoted saying, “I first fell in love with the ocean when I lived on the island of Kaua’i and worked as a snorkel guide. During my time on the island, I was given a different perspective that many people may not get. I am blessed for that, and because of that, I must stand up and do my best to make a change – beginning by speaking up on the harmful habits of society. If you have trash, throw it away. If you go get a coffee, bring your own cup. Reuse. Recycle. It would make such a difference if the world would abide by simple principles such as these.”
Our oceans are home to approximately one million species of marine life. One species in particular has a special place in Audrey’s heart – humpback whales. She has spent many hours swimming in the Pacific ocean greeted by the beauty of these gentle giants. She explained the first time she was greeted by a whale – it swam beneath her singing so loudly that her whole body was vibrating from its song. A moment she would never forget. It was her close interaction with the ocean and its wildlife that ignited her urge to speak up on the importance of protecting our oceans. Be the change the world needs. Protect our oceans.
