USA – The ‘Hair Queen’ of TikTok, Leda Fazal owns and operates a salon in Raleigh, NC as a Master Colorist, specializing in blondes, color corrections and total transformations. Her viral videos on TikTok have elevated her to fame over the past 2 years. She started making videos on TikTok in December 2018 and uses the app to share haircare tips and test methods of coloring hair. After reminding viewers that household bleach products are not safe to use on one’s hair, her educational video has been watched over 2.7 million times and amassed more than 342,000 likes from horrified viewers. Fazal starts her video by saying, “I can’t believe I’m gonna do it,” as she grabs a bottle of Clorox bleach that promotes a “concentrated formula” and promises that it “Kills 99.9% of Germs.” She pours a few tablespoons into a clear cup and prepares two pieces of human hair on the table beside it.
Being born in NYC, Leda at 11, worked flipping burgers without getting paid. Her childhood struggles have made her the successful businessperson she is today. After moving to NC she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications at William Peace College. She attributes her success on TikTok to the communications program and classes she attended. Leda is always active on social media such as Instagram and Facebook, and video socialization platforms of TikTok and YouTube.
Being a Master Colorist, Leda Fazal is well-versed with hair colouring and how to get natural beautiful-looking hair. In her TikTok videos she is known for using test hair strips to show the right amount of lightener and developer to help stylists and clients set realistic lift expectations. Her videos are followed by stylists who are requesting she produce longer educational videos as well as the general public who enjoy her funny skits of the day in the life of a salon owner and stylist. She is working with brands like L’Oréal, Sally Beauty, Conair, etc. and being invited to speak at fashion and beauty events for 2022.
Talking about her career journey as a hairstylist, Leda said: “I always credit my loyal guests that have been with me from the beginning of my career. There are a lot of you out there and I want to tell you from the bottom of my heart how grateful I am that you have allowed me to grow and be the stylist I am today.” Continuing about her work, she said: “I get so excited to come into the salon and create hair miracles, especially on guests that have never had the Tone guest experience or received our outstanding signature hair colour.”
She was recently asked ‘How do you define success’ and she answered, Seeing a big smile on a client’s face. Them being really excited about their color or cut and wanting to rebook an appointment, sometimes sooner than they need to just to come back and see me and make some videos.
