December 20, 2021 – EarthPoorna, a healthy food product company, founded by Sucheta Bhandare (35) in 2019, has generated revenue of more than 10 Lakhs by selling more than 50,000 ragi ladoos and creating employment opportunities to local women farmers.
To fulfill her dream of working towards sustainable development Sucheta started her venture ‘EarthPoorna’ in 2019. Being fitness enthusiast and a rooted farmer, she understands the importance of right eating habits and pain points of farmers. EarthPoorna is an attempt to bridge the gap between these two issues. EarthPoorna believes that consuming organically grown food products is one of the ways of sustainable living. EarthPoorna tries to bring sustainable development in its working by sourcing its organically grown raw material directly from farmers, processing it in traditional ways and providing Healthy Food products to its consumers.
Sucheta Started EarthPoorna with initial investments of Rs. 5000/- and grew step by step. Initially EarthPoorna was selling just one type of Ragi Laddos. She developed the products by using traditional ‘Grandma’s recipes’ and incorporating recommendations from various food experts and medical practitioners. Currently EarthPoorna manufactures 4 different types of ladoos including one Vegan variant. The average monthly turnover of the company has crossed 1 Lakhs in the past few months. EarthPoorna has also generated employment for 4-7 women.
Mitti Ke Rang is an E-Commerce platform that helped Sucheta to showcase and sell her products across the country and grow her business. There is hardly any state left in India where EarthPoorna Products are not yet reached.
Sucheta Bhandare, Founder, EarthPoorna said, “The name, EarthPoorna, signifies that the products are made from the Earth and can be returned to the Earth. Through EarthPoorna, I want people to enjoy locally produced and sourced food once again. Two challenges I faced when starting this venture was convincing the farmers in the region to plant ragi and convincing my family that there was a thriving demand for the alternate snack I was trying to market. I won the farmers over by highlighting that planting ragi enriched the soil, prevented soil erosion and that it grew well without the use of any chemicals. My family understood my motivation when they saw how paying heed to nutrition changed the lifestyle of several people across the country. Today, business is doing well and 30% of my orders are from returning customers. I am happy people are embracing and enjoying their traditional roots of sustenance.”
Saket Deshmukh, Co-Founder, Mitti Ke Rang said, “We are honored to be a part of EarthPoorna’s success story. Sucheta is not only providing people with nutritious products but providing several women a source of income and a chance to stand on their own two feet. By enabling women to become financially independent, she is paving the way for their future socio-economic and cultural growth. As the company’s operations scale up, she will continue to employ women and change the geographic demography of the landscape.
