New York, NY, USA – 07 January, 2022 – While June may seem like a long way off, one local plumbing company, HBNY Plumbing & Heating, is urging building owners and operators for buildings in Community Districts (CD) 2, 5, 7, 13, and 18 in all boroughs to make plans now to meet requirements for Local Law 152 Gas Inspections by the June 30, 2022 deadline extension.
As part of New York City’s gas safety package, Local Law 152 (LL152) requires that certain New York City structures have their gas lines regularly inspected, currently once every four years. The deadlines are staggered for different districts. For buildings in Community Districts 2, 5, 7, 13, and 18, Inspection Certification must be filed before June 30, 2022, or building owners face a civil penalty of up to $10,000.
Inspections must be performed by a Licensed Master Plumber or a plumber working directly under a Licensed Master Plumber, and that has completed a 7-hour training program acceptable to the dob.
NYC-based HBNY Plumbing & Heating wants building owners and operators to book their inspections now before it gets closer to the deadline and appointments are difficult to schedule. Because the inspections must be performed by a Licensed Master Plumber or a plumber working under a LMP, finding qualified professionals may soon become a challenge. “You don’t want to procrastinate on this,” said Harry Bikos owner of HBNY. “Due to Covid and other factors, there’s a long waiting list for many types of services now. Waiting until the last minute to schedule the inspection is going to cause problems for lots of owners.”
Bikos, a Licensed Master Plumber himself, has created a special service offering to streamline this process for building owners. “We know this can turn into a big headache for building owners and property management companies,” Bikos said, explaining why his business is catering to this important need. The program offers affordable pricing based on the size of the building and offers free estimates for larger buildings. HBNY promises a fast turnaround with scheduling and completing necessary paperwork. With 17 years working with high-rise buildings and a complete knowledge of the LL152 requirements, HBNY also files the certification with the city to save building owners time and effort.
To keep the certification process objective, HBNY does not offer remedy services for anything that doesn’t pass inspection. “We wanted our customers to trust our inspection and any recommendations and know that we have no conflict of interest. We won’t recommend any unnecessary fixes,” said Bikos.
HBNY is ready to book appointments now for the months leading up to the deadline, and Bikos says their schedule is already filling up quickly. “June will be here before we know it.”
