Virtual Personal Training Revealed as Top 20 Worldwide Fitness Trends For 2022, According to Influential Survey

Canadian provider of online personal training spotlights annual 2022 findings from the Worldwide Survey of Fitness Trends for 2022, in particular the rise of virtual personal training and online live and on-demand exercise classes from previous years.

ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal®, the official journal of health and fitness, has published findings from their yearly survey as part of their January-February 2022 issue. While the journal has continued to confirm several trends identified in previous years, the 2022 survey included emerging ones, along with COVID-19-driven ones which first made an appearance in 2021 and which are expected to persist in 2022.The ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal® survey has been ran for the past 16 years with thousands of professionals around the world being polled on several areas to determine trends for the upcoming year.

Commenting on these new findings, a First Class Personal Training stated ‘There are several highlights that we, in particular, wanted to echo and welcome. Firstly, online live and on-demand exercise classes has made its way into the top and secured 9th place for the first time. After two years of a global pandemic, it is obvious that people have adapted and embraced the full benefits of virtual workouts which allow anyone to continue or kick start a fitness routine from the comfort of their own home and at their own time. Secondly and very much in line with this, online personal training and home exercise gyms have also made a debut entrance, demonstrating their versatility and many associated benefits.’

Among the benefits of choosing online fitness services such as those provided by First Class Personal Training, over big box gym, the spokesperson counted accessibility, flexibility and health safety, particularly with virus cases still increasing in Canada.

Considering the benefits of choosing virtual personal trainings versus going to a big box gym or having an in-person training session, the spokesperson added ‘As everyone in the industry will tell you, one of the main challenges we had in the health and fitness was the temporary closure of physical spaces. This meant we had to reinvent our approach. For us, as specialists in in-home personal training, the transition was far smoother and we were delighted to see the growing interest and uptake in this.’
