Shetevia spikes is the reigning Ms. Florida US Nation 2022 and an aspiring model. Shetevia began her journey with the Miss US Nation pageants after casting for the Super Chic Miami Art Basel Edition Fashion Week showcase in December 2021; she was offered the opportunity to represent Broward County and compete for the Florida crown.
Shevetia was excited for the opportunity and decided to enter the competition and was selected to receive the city title; Ms. Broward County US Nation. The state competition was held in the heart of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Shetevia’s confidence and poise wowed the judges and she took home the state crown of Ms. Florida US Nation 2022.
As Ms. Florida US Nation 2022, Shetevia plans to utilize her title to extend compassion and kindness to the world, by visiting schools to promote a culture of kindness and love in early childhood; which will help prepare the youth for their future. Giving back goes in line with her platform with her crown this year, she would like to bring awareness to modeling with disabilities and special needs. “I truly believe if you dream you can achieve. You are capable of becoming whomever you desire”, says Shetevia.
Shetevia’s passion for modeling began back in her junior year of high school. The art of fashion and diversity of style is what inspired Shetevia to get into the modeling industry. “I believe the modeling industry is about the representation of unique fashion. To me, it is another form of art. Designer gets to express themselves through the many styles of garments. As a model, you literally get to become a part of the art,” says Shetevia. In five years from now, Shetevia plans on building an empire that will lead to the biggest representation of fashion in the modeling industry. Shetevia also aspires to walk for the “big four” New York, London & Milan Fashion week in the same year – which she will have the opportunity to with Super Chic Fashion Week as a titleholder with the Miss US Nation Pageant.
One stereotype Shetevia would like to break in the modeling and fashion industry is contributing to diversity; and ignoring “beauty standards” such as physical characteristics in a model. To be accepting of all sizes, all body types, all backgrounds, all skin tones; she believes every human being adds their own beauty to the world.
Shetevia’s persistence is what she believes makes her unique. She believes that if you passionately want something, work hard for it.
“I have scoliosis which affects the curvature of my spine. I was bullied and laughed at so much during my childhood years about the way I walked. Many nights I cried, wishing I was born normal, without the problem. Many days I endured pain related to my deformity, but I always knew I wanted to be a model. I was determined to keep trying and never give up on my dream. I eventually embraced my deformity and learned how to do what I call, “strut down the runway,” says Shetevia.
