San Diego’s Hidden Gem, Brittany Taylor

Brittany Taylor is a San Diego native raised by her parents Daren & Edna Moore in a loving Christian faith based home. From a very early age, she was actively involved in her church and her community.

At the age of 10 she attended San Diego International Christian Center and participated in the Youth Easter Production as a singer. Brittany’s first solo performance mesmerized the entire audience. From this moment on everyone in her circle put a major spotlight on her talent.

Brittany didn’t immediately recognize the gift everyone else saw and instantly stopped singing due to the social pressure and lack of confidence in her craft. She still participated in the church choir, but kept herself in the background.

By the time she started High School she began to step into her journey of singing in front of larger crowds a little bit at a time. She sang National Anthems at football games and consistently sang in choirs. However, she still lacked the confidence needed to take center-stage.

At the end of her senior year, she auditioned for San Diego State’s Music Major. While she did not get accepted, she still continued her journey as a creative and studied Television, Film & New Media & Theatre. During this time Brittany also attended Grossmont Community College to play Volleyball.

In 2016, Brittany assisted her friend Yvonne with her one-woman-show “Searching for the Write”, which was her first time performing again as an adult. Brittany and Yvonne would soon perform together for Neo Soul Tuesdays at Onyx Nightclub in San Diego. With inspiration from Yvonne and the nightclub, Brittany had her very first solo performance in June of 2017.

With a new found confidence, she began to perform at local open mics. She also sang with a local gospel group called “The Encounter”! During 2018, the buzz grew and Brittany began headlining at multiple shows around the city and built up a strong foundation for herself.

In 2020 she continued to sing, but  had to make some major life decisions due to an unhealthy lifestyle and a failed marriage. Brittany used music and her talents to heal and began writing her own original music. During this healing process she created her very first song, “Unfair” recorded with producer and friend Shandon “mysterkeyz” Campbell.

She was a bit hesitant and fearful about releasing this project for multiple reasons, but with encouragement and inspiration from friends, family and former MTV host Evan “The Show” she is now ready to release “Unfair” to the public February 11, 2022 on all streaming platforms.

Brittany believes many individuals in the world feel what they have had to endure during previous relationships with partners, parents or even their community can be completely unfair. She wants to remind everyone that it is okay to have those feelings and it is okay to express yourself.
