Jacob Stella is breaking into the mainstream media as a sought-after model, entrepreneur, social media personality and celebrity makeup artist.
Now one of the widely acclaimed makeup artists with a beauty business in Australia, Jacob currently amasses thousands of followers on Instagram and uses his presence on social media to be a voice for the LGBTQIA+ community, mental health, and male representation in the beauty industry.
“The hours of conversations I used to have with my friends, hoping and dreaming that one day we would be able to inspire others and just express our love and zest for the creative world, has all led me to where I am now,” Jacob, whose Instagram handle is @andthatsjacob, shared in a post.
Jacob has worked with leading Australian companies and has been lucky enough to have shot campaigns for Sportsgirl, Sephora Australia, Benefit Cosmetics, Boost Juice, Grazia Magazine, and many more.
Jacob, also a podcaster and writer, says he wants to use this year to push and break through the mainstream media sector while continuing his work on social media. He urged his followers, especially the youth who have big dreams in life, to keep pushing forward.
“The number of hurdles and obstacles that were to come, all of the snarky and condescending comments, the eye rolls, whether it’s your career, a more unconventional lifestyle, simply just being who you are, or your mental health, keep at it. Pull back if you have to, but don’t stop the race,” says Jacob.
As a rising influencer and in-demand celebrity makeup artist, Jacob, who also worked with MECCA, has been interviewed by Studio 10 television, Bustle.com, Grazia Magazine, Beauty Crew, and many other publications.
Jacob, who founded BOCAJ Beauty, has been working professionally as a freelance artist from age 16, and after applying makeup on his first client, he knew that one day he wanted to have a brand to call his own. Among the signature and best-selling products in the BOCAJ Beauty line include Faux Mink Eyelashes and the highly rated Colour Switch sponge.
In the early stages of his career, Jacob worked for some of the biggest cosmetic houses, such as Benefit Cosmetics, Napoleon Perdis, MAC Cosmetics, and Esteé Lauder.
