The book examines the emotions of a new mother suffering from postpartum depression.

Erin Walker’s ‘A Diary of Postpartum Depression’ speaks about the struggles of a new mother with postpartum depression. The poems highlight author’s journey with the complex behavioural changes that many women experience after the birth of a child. Releasing on March 3rd, 2022 the US, the UK, EU, Canada, and Australia, the book is a must-read for all the women going through this phase, feeling alone and helpless.

Postpartum affects all women differently, and many women experience depression where they feel lonely anxious. They do not feel the connection to their baby that a new mother should feel. Erin is committed to reaching out to as many women as possible through this book and hence, decided to self publish the book to ensure the publishers make no edits and her poems convey her genuine emotions.

Some of the women who have suffered from Postpartum Depression share their experience;

“After baby blues wore off, I thought I was going to be fine. I was fine for months, but at some point, long after the medical practitioners stopped checking in on me, it started. I didn’t even realize that I was depressed until I first thought about killing myself. I knew I was depressed from then on, but it didn’t seem to me that it was bad enough to warrant action. Even as I made plans to take my life, I thought, “There are people out there who are way worse off than I am.”

“Looking back on my journal from the time after my baby was born, I realized that the depression had begun long before I ever considered self-harm or suicide. If I had been able to see it, maybe I could’ve gotten therapy sooner. If another mom in the same situation reads it, I hope she will realize that she needs – and can get – help.”

The book is written in verses, the most expressive form of literature. “I write my diary in this format because while it keeps the emotion, it erases the ledger and allows me to forgive and move past the difficulties I face,” Erin added.

The book will be available on Amazon.
