Leading the Innovative Endoscopic Surgery in Mexico

Mexico Bariatric Center is proud to unveil another groundbreaking solution in fighting against obesity. Introducing the non-surgical reduction of the stomach size with an endoscopic suturing device.

One of the most undesirable aspects of bariatric surgery is cutting and removing gut tissues. Noticeable post-op scarring on the abdomen is also a common concern. These issues are avoided with the new endoscopic procedure performed without resecting the organs and making cuts through the stomach wall.

The shrinking of the stomach orally via a suturing endoscope is a new revolutionary bariatric procedure offered by Mexico Bariatric Center® (MBC). Delivering the best approaches in bariatrics is part of MBC’s ambition to continue to lead in the medical tourism industry.

Two new applications of this advanced therapy are Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) and Transoral Out Reduction (TORe):

ESG is the first of the no-incision procedures that deliver similar weight loss results as a traditional vertical sleeve gastrectomy.

TORe is a safer option for revision of unsuccessful bypass surgeries where patient has enlarged pouch.

“Today marks a monumental step in diminishing obesity. We are the first to provide non-invasive weight loss treatment in Tijuana, Baja, Mexico. These endobariatric procedures include TORe and ESG that provide near-identical outcomes without the risks, complications, and lengthy recovery time,” mentions Dr. Ron Elli, CEO, and founder of MBC.

The ESG Procedure

Endo-sleeve, known as ESG, requires no surgery and no cuts. Instead, a long, flexible device called an endoscope is passed through the mouth, down the esophagus, and into the stomach. The specialized endoscopist will then suture the inside of the stomach, stitching the lateral edge of the stomach together. The surgical seam creates small accordion-like folds into the stomach, making it smaller and decreasing its length.

When these folds are stitched into the stomach tissue, less space is available in the stomach to retain food. The sutures are pulled tightly, transforming the stomach into a tube shape with a shrunken greater curvature, resembling a gastric “sleeve” without removing any portion of the stomach. The smaller stomach will make them feel full faster, causing a decrease in appetite.

Incision-less
The body is not vulnerable to any external tissue damage around the abdominal area with an endoscopic procedure, unlike traditional laparoscopic surgeries.

No stomach removal
Rather than removing 70-80% of the stomach as in a traditional gastric sleeve (VSG), suturing is performed inside the stomach to replicate its shape to a “sleeve.”

Fast rehabilitation
With quicker recovery time and turnaround time over traditional bariatric surgeries, people can return to work in as little as two days post-op.

Less pain and discomfort
Laparoscopic bariatric surgery requires incisions (cuts) that need antibiotics and can be painful during recovery. Since no surgery is necessary for ESG, at most minor aches and soreness may be experienced.

ESG is low risk
The need to cut or remove portions of body tissue is nonexistent. There is also no change in anatomy as everything stays intact.

May be reversible
Although this difficulty is uncertain, removing the sutures could theoretically release the stomach back towards its standard shape.

Endoscopic Gastric Bypass Revision (TORe)

Transoral Gastric Outlet Reduction is a minimally invasive process that works as an alternative for revisional procedures. The traditional laparoscopic approach has a higher risk of abdominal and gastric outlet complications. The TORe method begins by shrinking the diameter of the connection between the stomach pouch and the small bowel known as the gastric outlet. TORe now provides less risk and blemish-free practice that can help kick start weight loss back on track. Bypass revision.

ESG procedures Performed by Top Mexico Bariatric Surgeons

Pioneering the ESG revolution in Tijuana will be exclusive, double board-certified top doctors of MBC. With more than capable qualifications to perform this incision-less procedure, patients can rest assured in being in capable hands. MBC surgeons have helped lead innovations in weight-loss surgery, including the duodenal switch surgery, mini gastric bypass, 3D visor, and the Bariclip.

Since its inception in 2012, MBC has continued to push the limits in weight loss treatments. Mexico Bariatric Center take pride in being the first to provide new advancements in bariatric practice. With over 12,000 successful procedures to date, the future to curing obesity remains secure.
