Nigerian-born Efemena Isume, popularly known as Yung Shrimp, is up and coming recording artist representing the beautiful city of Winnipeg, Canada, When asked about the origins of his name, Yung Shrimp stated “The name started out as a joke when I was known as Mezza. So I just let it run”.

Yung Shrimp’s viral hit, Cowboy Sawse (Remix) featuring CG the GOAT & Tommy Ice, has garnered millions of views on Tik Tok and recently debuted at #95 on the iTunes Hip-Hop Single Chart. “I’m happy about it. I’m glad people enjoy the song really because it’s a song we had fun making” Yung Shrimp said. Record63 Founder/CEO Jay Addison, who mixed Cowboy Sawse Remix along with Joe Grasso, also expressed his delight for how well the song is being received. “It’s really cool”, he stated. “Kids are having fun and creating dances to it. That’s really moving for us.”

Growing up in Nigeria, Yung Shrimp and his brothers played around with instrumentals from popular songs like Otis by Jay-Z & Kanye West, as well as Amen by Meek Mill just to name a few. Those sessions inspired Yung Shrimp is get in the music production. “At an early age I was in charge of the mixing for my brothers. I also started producing at that time as a hobby so that made it easier for me to get more into making music”. Little did he know, he just begun his journey. Since then he decided to pursue music full time. “My biggest accomplishments as a recording artist is getting hundred thousand streams on solely from fans sharing my music. Also getting recognition from prominent artists like Big Sean, Carnage and a few others”, he said.

This self-taught music sensation was influenced by musicians like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Bryson Tiller. In a music era where trendy sounds are the game, he showcases an incredible level of creativity and passion in his music.
