Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) obtains a Diamond level for the HBC Green Award and a Gold level for HBC Innovation Award

Dubai, UAE – April 26, 2022 – On April 15, 2022, the first 2022 cycle of the HBC International Awards ended. There are countless applications received this year, and the number of requests seems to be growing from time to time. Of the 5,000 documents obtained, only 439 fully met the Harvard Business Council criteria. Of these, 63 were successful.

UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) is involved in numerous sectors, such as energy, mining, water resources, land and sea transportation, roads, utilities, housing, building and construction, and investment sustainability. It also strives to optimize partnerships, technology, and advanced sciences and adopt innovative global solutions to improve the quality of society’s life.

It has successfully applied for two categories: Green Award, achieving the Diamond Level, and Innovation Award, achieving the Gold Level.

The highest status conferred for the Green Award derives from implementing a strategic plan aiming to organize, develop and enhance the competitiveness of the UAE in all relevant sectors. MOEI is committed to creating a green ICT strategy to reach an emissions reductions target and controlling waste through in-depth analyses. In addition, it focuses on developing a Sustainable Materials Matrix to identify and select sustainable and energy-efficient materials and products of maximum durability and maintainability, that come from waste materials and can be recycled again in the future and are available locally and regionally, among others.

As for the Innovation Award, MOEI successfully demonstrated its sights on modernization by presenting the National Smart SME Geospatial Platform. This project assists UAE local funding program analysts to make smarter decisions about which SME idea to encourage in a specific region, providing them with tools to aid market planning, site selection, and customer segmentation by combining demographic, business, lifestyle, and spending data with map-based analytics. The analysts can thus identify under-performing markets, pinpoint the suitable growth sites, find where the project’s target customers live, and share the analysis across the funding program and any stakeholder as accurate infographic reports and dynamic presentations.

Harvard Business Council believes that MOEI, as a government organization, is an admirable example of what can be done to respect the environment while still allowing the country to evolve and grow steadily. UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure demonstrates that sustainable practices do not slow down progress but, on the contrary, are adding value to it.
