The Open Chair Foundation “Giving Hope Gala” Raises $21.5K to Support Mental Health

The Open Chair Foundation’s “Giving Hope Gala” took place at a beautiful intracoastal mansion in Fort Lauderdale on May 7 2022.

The foundation provides resources to those in need who are suffering from mental health struggles. The Open Chair Foundation has helped 31 people since its inception in 2021. They aim to raise $250,000 within the next year to help as many people as possible.

It was an elegant party with a purpose. Guests mingled with local personalities, soaked in the atmosphere, and sipped some delicious cocktails sponsored by Fun Wine and Miami Arak. The party was just as inclusive for the non-drinking crowd with a mocktail bar sponsored by Curious Elixirs and Mad Tasty. The evening was packed with entertainment- a live cooking demonstration of giant paellas from La Paella Chef, mermaids, stilt walkers, LED light dancers, and fire shows.

The evening was a tremendous success. The Open Chair Foundation exceeded their goal of $20K and raised $21,583 through generous donations, 100% going directly to those in need.

Key attendees included local models and influencers who are passionate about the cause: Alexa Collins, actress and singer Elizabeth Elias, Tik Tok Star Sam Paige, Emily Jones, Fortune Okigweh, Oxana Niki, Claudia Caminero, Stephanie Cosmopolitan, Dani Labory, Alexa Taylor, and Niki President.

The Open Chair Foundation president Michael Czypryuna, executive director Megan Scrimshaw, and treasurer Emily Czyupryna were in attendance.

“Mental health issues are very important to address – especially in this increasingly digitally connected age. Post pandemic, mental health incidence has been on the rise. I want people to know that they are not alone, that they are supported, and can get better with the resources we provide.” – Megan Scrimshaw, Executive Director of The Open Chair Foundation

The next fundraising gala is planned for November 2022.

The Open Chair Foundation was founded in loving memory of John Oliveri and Jane Fell, who both tragically lost their lives too early due to mental health struggles. For more information about the foundation and to make a donation visit www.theopenchairfoundation.org
