“TRT International Metaverse and Broadcasting Forum”, a first in the world in terms of broadcasting, took place in istanbul. Sobaci, Director General of TRT, stated, “We have started design and technological infrastructure projects to make sure that TRT will become a pioneer and one of the strongest broadcasters in ‘metaverse’.
National and international technology experts assembled in UNIQ Istanbul at “TRT International Metaverse and Broadcasting Forum”. Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun, Chairman of the Board of TRT Ahmet Albayrak, Director General of TRT Mehmet Zahid Sobaci, TRT management, experts, and audiences attended the forum, in which the future of the broadcasting sector was discussed.
“Turkey has gathered speed in terms of digital transformation and technology”
In his opening speech, Director General of TRT Mehmet Zahid Sobaci stated that Turkey has gathered speed in terms of digital transformation and technology with the current policies.
Sobaci, reminding that Turkey ranks 41st among the 132 economies featured in the Global Innovation Index 2021, being one of the players in the “50 leagues”, underlined that this year and the next period will enhance positive progress for the country. Sobaci continued, “As our President of the Republic suggested in March, we are now in a digital mobilization period. As a sign of this period and to actualize our motto ‘National Technology, Powerful Turkey’, two important notices are now being prepared for the ‘2023 Industry and Technology Strategy.”
Sobaci underlined that the digital mobilization period has a course of action that mostly covers the media and broadcasting arenas and the importance of content increases with technology.
“An important milestone both for TRT and broadcasting”
Sobaci explained that the purpose of this forum is to actualize the most significant work of broadcasting for the digital mobilization period and continued,
“I am more than happy to announce that we are going to witness an important milestone both for TRT and broadcasting, the creation of TRT Metaverse. Apparently, ‘metaverse’, built on web 3.0 and blockchain, will take the lead in the transformation process that affects individuals, countries, policies, and the whole world.
‘Metaverse’, which is defined as the place where people, objects, and dreams exist through digital agents, is going to be the successor of the internet with three-dimensional and end-to-end design. We have started design and technological infrastructure projects with the leading ‘metaverse’ agencies of Turkey and the world to make sure that TRT will become a pioneer and one of the strongest broadcasters in ‘metaverse’.”
Sobaci stated that in TRT Metaverse switching space will take the place of switching channels, people can interact with their favorite artists and can communicate with the direct source of the news.
“Designing the Metaverse”, “What’s Next: Humanity 2.0? What Does Metaverse Promise Us What awaits humanity and businesses?”, “Gaming and Opportunities for Start-Ups on Metaverse”, and “Media & Arts & Education in the Metaverse” sessions took place in the forum with the participation of Turkish and foreign panelists.
