Amitofo Care Center International Helps Improve The Lives of African Vulnerable Children

Humanitarian Charity Provides Full Protection And Shelter, As Well Fully-Sponsored K-12 Education

Amitofo Care Center or ACC is on a mission to uplift the lives of vulnerable children in Africa. Particularly, the international NGO focuses on helping young ones who struggle with hunger, poor health, illiteracy, dependency, poverty, and vulnerability.

According to the ACC team, there is a profound need to support Africa’s children in today’s modern, highly diverse society.

“When a child is born into an environment surrounded by natural calamities, disasters, extreme poverty, and unrest, they lose something so poignant and necessary for their future — the right to a good quality of life and a good education,” said its founder. “Our aim is to empower them and by helping them whilst they’re still in the development stages, we hope that these children can secure the future of their native land along with breaking the cruel cycle of poverty.”

Among its numerous programs and projects, ACC International focuses on building, operating, and maintaining facilities that serve as shelters and boarding schools for vulnerable and homeless children. The organization envisions these care centers as ‘complete living ecosystems’ where a child has an opportunity to grow and experience the beauty of life, safe from the adversities that hinder development and disregard rights.

There are currently seven Amitofo Care Centers found in six different African countries, namely, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, and Namibia. Altogether, the shelter campuses house more than 1,400 vulnerable children from age 4 who receive essential needs, medical care, education, and vocational training. Each center adopts gender equality practices, also employs a team of caretakers from the local community and guardian teachers who provide the children not only education but as well as socio-psychological support.

Beyond helping the children under its centers, ACC International also collaborates with other community-based organizations in each locality and provided over 8 million meals a year (avg) to the vulnerable groups. This further expands the aid to more than 19,000 children who benefit from its services.

Through its efforts, the ACC team hopes to become a catalyst in driving the first six United Nations sustainability goals: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well Being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Clean Water and Sanitation.

One of the charity’s key features is its focus on providing quality education. A service unique to ACC is that it gives the children complete K-12 learning that is fully sponsored. This comes from the firm belief that education is one of the keys to ending the cycle of poverty that these societies are trapped in.

“We want to equip vulnerable children with quality education and diversify skills so they can give to the world, help others, and make the world a better place,” said its founder.
